I’ve been really bummed yesterday and today; I’ve spent nap times reading health care reform commentary and articles on its subsequent effects. I feel angry, disappointed, frustrated, concerned, and lost. I’m bracing myself for how it changes maternity care/midwifery care in the US, how it will burden the current deficit, and most importantly, how many women will choose to abort their baby because it’ll be free.

But then she wakes up. And I get to go in her room and sweep her giddiness up out of her crib and I don’t care as much about Obama or Stupak or legislation.

A wise teacher once said, “The most radical thing a Christian parent can do for their nation is to raise up a Godly seed.” Please put the news away, just quit reading it. And enjoy being a mama.

Never forget, Shannon, you’re already changing the world.

Amen, Millison! It saddens me deeply to see what is happening to our Nation. But then the worst thing we can do is be in the paralysis of fear. Naftalie (and her innocence and purity) is your precious reminder of what is so important in this world! Keep doing what you’re doing! You and Danny are creating a wonderful environment for the next generation. You ARE changing the world, Shannon. Never forget the amazing value you are contributing to your world by creating healthy, loved, beautiful child(ren). I love you so much.

All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Don’t hide your head in the sand. Vote and stay informed.

I agree with Brady. This little girl is learning to play the game and very good at it already. What a cutie.
