It’s pretty wonderful to have a family. Just saying.

Saturday we took a short trip to Ithaca, NY, one of my favorite little cities we’ve come across in this area. Cornell and Ithaca College influence the culture heavily (“I HATE HIPSTERS!” -you know who you are), but there’s a real emphasis on sustainability and push for local business (they even have their own local currency) support. (Read: dust and rocks-eating folks).

Exploring new places is a lot more fun with Danny and Naftalie. Even if Danny and I spent the better part of the afternoon arguing about when judging an action or social group-think goes from being prudent to prejudice.

In the end doing pretty much anything with these two makes it better.

What a cool family you are. And those little bare feet–I sooooo wanna bite ’em. Danny looks great. Thankyou for sharing your adventures with us, Shannon. I love you.

i already miss them and wish you guys were still here. What is the I HATE HIPSTERS thing about? I saw you say that on one of Molly’s pictures. Are hipsters like the coffee-shop obsessed, square framed glasses, skinny jeans, thrift store shirt, book-carrying people?

To be perfectly honest, I’m not exactly sure how you categorize “hipsters”; I think you know ’em when you see them. That was one of the funniest things you’ve ever said (the way you said it and the context). Right up there with, “Daddy, what are those poor people looking at?”.

hipster can’t really be categorized. jessica, what you are talking about is on the right track, but not totally it. kind of the way that hot topic is kind of scene kid, but not at all at the same time. there are different kinds of hipsters too. some are really into the early ’90’s right now and some look more like people from the ’40’s and ’50’s. hard to pigeon-hole a group of people.

shannon, i have heard such great things about ithaca. the guy who created ithaca hours came to fayetteville to discuss the local currency model. it sounds really interesting.

Are you a de facto sub group of Hipsters if you diss Hipsters? Shannon, the picture is great. The unique angle and the composition. I tell you…do something with this because you’re very good at it.
