Camping Alternatives

August 23, 2010

We’ve decided camping this season would be a major disaster. Last summer Naftalie was a little human doll – we could take her wherever we wanted whenever we wanted. Now Naftalie has preferences and opinions, and that includes sleeping in her crib with a fan blowing on her.  So we’ve been taking day trips on the weekends to several of the beautiful state parks in New York, hoping that maybe next summer we’ll be able to make it happen again. We’re doing what we’d do, just without the tent and campfire (I know…………some of the best parts).

Naftalie is curious about so much, it’s beautiful to watch.

We made buffalo burgers with provolone cheese (Dana, they taste very similar to the venison burgers) – yum. And of course, we shared smores.

After we stuffed ourselves silly, we were off to a short hike around Lake Treman. Earlier plans to hike the waterfalls were thwarted by drought this summer (bummer).

These two couldn’t get any cuter.

Even Thompson was enjoying himself.

By the end of the day we were very tired. But it’s the best kind of tired. The dirty, happy, spending time with the people you love the most, worn out, making memories while sweating kind of tired.

Ah I love it! This looks like a perfect compromise for your family right now. Naftalie’s growing so fast, I love seeing how she changes every few weeks. I like the picture of Thompson Charles too! This is a happy, uplifting story. Just what I needed right now.

I posted another story on Meme’s Stories, this one about Danny. Thankyou for sharing your life with us, Shannon. I forward your blogs to Grandad who really enjoys them. All my love to you.

PS: I didn’t realize you can click on a photo and enlarge it–that is so cool. Love Naftalie’s sleepy face 🙂

Wow, that trail is beautiful! Look at Naftalie standing there with her Daddy…too precious! And it looks like Thompson is growing just perfectly! 🙂

So jealous of your buffalo burgers, we ran out of ground venison and I’ve been wanting one really bad lately. Hopefully Brandon’s dad has more in his freezer.

Miss and love you guys! Talk to you soon 🙂

Naftalie is continuing to walk, I see! What a big girl. I can’t believe it. Loooooove all the pics! You and Danny have every baby carrier known to man! As I was looking at the first few I thought “i want a picture of her tummy” and there it was! (more, please)

    I love you 4.
