Blogging has been moved to the back burner. Mothering a toddler is a new experience that leaves less time for sitting at the computer to gather my thoughts and archive what we’ve been doing. I’m afraid the time vortex is only going to get stronger, as our little guy will be here in about two months (!). But of course, there’s a lot of goofing around – making, eating, cleaning meals – reading at the library – reading at home – reading in the car – watching Arthur – playing at the playground – taking nature walks – meeting new “babies” our age and expanding our social skills – flirting at the grocery store – testing Daddy’s disciplining prowess – saying “no” – giving kisses – and helping Mommy clean and cook along the way.

We’ve been experiencing a sweet mix of challenges and triumphs around here, big and small. God is a good, Good God. In the midst of my physical discomfort, Danny’s insane schedule and demands, and our seemingly constant state of limbo and change, we’re continually being knit tighter and tighter.

I remember exactly when our family went from having time and order in our lives, to having none. Just a few weeks after Jon arrived. Baby #2 changes everything. Now is where the schedules, routines and priorities are tested. Because if there is no routine, mama gets tired real fast and then nothing goes right. Fortunately, we–the moms–make those schedules and so we have the power to enforce them. Nap time, learning time, dinner time, cleaning time, church time are all put in place by The Mama. Yay for family hood. So many adventures await you guys! I couldn’t be more excited for you Shannon. Just make sure there is still Shannon Time once in a while. I love you my amazing daughter in-law!
