Sister Bear

March 4, 2011

At Stay N Play this morning several curious toddlers gathered around Thompson while he was sitting in his carseat on the floor. When Naftalie saw this across the room she immediately started crying and ran to him saying, “brotha, brotha!”. There was fear and maybe a bit of anger and obvious force in her countenance from head to toe. She actually smacked a sweet little girl as soon as she got to the scene. I was so amazed at her protective spirit. I’ve never taught her to do that, I actually didn’t even know that she had that in her.

They’ve been interacting more and more and it’s just pure warmth to see them together. I’m envisioning all of the moments they will be able to share together – brother and sister – so close in age. I know there will be the less than idealistic tantrums and squabbles over toys, but I believe these two will be tight. And there’s not much else that makes a mama more pleased than to know this.

Thompson is a lucky baby. Having a good big sister is the best.

Ha! “Hey, sorry your child has a welt on her face, it was just so sweet when she did it though!”.
